OUR JOURNEY

Concrete Roses was born from a shared vision to nurture hope, healing, and growth in underserved communities. Founded by Sherlonda and Ronnie Nixon—two passionate leaders with decades of combined experience in mental health and social services—Concrete Roses grew out of a desire to break cycles, uplift families, and plant seeds of transformation where others only saw struggle.

Our journey began with a simple yet powerful belief: beauty and strength can grow from even the harshest conditions—just like roses through concrete. What started as a dream to expand the impact of Rose Family Counseling Center quickly evolved into a nonprofit dedicated to offering therapeutic support, community outreach, mentorship, and advocacy for individuals and families navigating trauma, hardship, and systemic barriers.

Every step of our journey has been rooted in compassion, collaboration, and the unshakable belief in our community’s potential. From one-on-one counseling sessions to youth empowerment initiatives, we’ve witnessed lives shift, resilience rise, and new stories begin.

And we’re just getting started.
